Preparation and properties of dispersion-strengthened lightweight alloys

 Annotation

The article is an overview on the analysis of existing dispersion-strengthened composite materials based on lightweight alloys. Briefly discussed methods of obtaining these materials, their properties, as well as the nature of the interaction between Ti, Mg and TiAl with Al2O3, TiB2, TB, SiC, Nd2O3, Ti5Si3,Ti2AlC, TiC, B4C. It is shawn, that powder metallurgy could be remarked as a the most effective and economically sound method compared with other alternatives.

Concept of Earth radar observation by cluster of unmanned spacecrafts

Annotation

Unmanned spacecraft (USC) with on-board synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is one of effective techniques for Earth observation. Nowadays such systems provide resolution comparable with optical ones and at that the systems can perform observation around the clock regardless of the presence of clouds above a survey region. SAR interferometry method (ISAR) based on two (or more) imaging of the same region is a prospective one. A cluster consists of two small USC is proposed to implement ISAR system with high resolution. Strategy of the cluster’s configuration creation and keeping is proposed which provides desired interferometry baseline and minimizes risk of USK collision during the system’s operation.

Application of electron-beam evaporation technology for coating deposition on powders and granules

Annotation

Possibility of application of the process of electron beam evaporation and condensation in vacuum (EB-PVD) for deposition of continuous and discrete coatings, including nanostructured coatings, on powdered or granulated materials is considered. The paper presents the results of microstructural investigations of coatings on metal and oxide powders, deposited at evaporation of material of the coating (ingot) placed into a traditional cylindrical water-cooled crucible-evaporator. Design of new developed evaporator is given, which enables electron beam evaporation of metals and alloys in vacuum with formation of a vapour flow of evaporation material oriented in the specified direction, in particular at a negative angle to the horizontal plane.

Application of such an evaporator for coating deposition on powders and granules allows 3 to 5 times lowering of consumption of evaporation material (Ag, Cu) and reducing the deposition time, compared to traditional evaporators. Technological variants of electron beam units and evaporators are considered, and microstructures of discrete nanostructured coatings on powders and granules are presented, as well as their possible applications.

Comparative analysis and determination of accuracy range of mathematical model of calculating the average temperature in the cutting zone

Annotation

Temperature control in the cutting zone determines the accuracy and surface finish quality and can be done by selecting the optimal parameters of machining. From this point of view, developed mechanical models determine the temperature in the cutting zone, adequately discovering essence of the process which is a relevant issue. Identified the ranges of the reliability of the mathematical models.

The microrelief formation of fibre reinforced plastic machined surface

Annotation

In this article the analysis of the existing data on the orientation of the fibers and influence of this parameter on the surface quality machined in fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is given. A scheme for the spatial orientation of the fibers which includes angle of the cutting edge relative to the fiber orientation was proposed. The hypothesis about the impact of this angle on the fiber destruction mechanism and FRP surface damage formation was suggested The modeling and experiment of orthogonal cutting of samples with fiber orientation angles 0 °, 45 °, 90 °, 135 ° angles with respect to the orientation of the cutting edge fibers 0 °, 45 °, 90 ° were made. The contributions of fiber orientation angles in maximum and minimum defect formation were determined.

The residuals stress-strain state at welding seam on the beam surface

Annotation

The solution of the finite element method problems in the mechanics of residual stress-strain state caused by welding symmetric seam on the surface of limited size beam is considered. The results of the solutions are analyzed in superposition of reacting the beam clamped ends on the three dimensional stress degree and the thickness distribution of the residual stress tensor components and plastic deformation is set.

The influence of external electromagnetic influences on the microstructure of welds in resistance spot welding

Annotation

The paper describes results of research of effect of external magnetic fields on microstructure of the welded joint metal in case of resistance spot welding. The analysis of structures obtained in different zones of the welded spot are presented. Effectiveness of application of external magnetic fields for welding of different types of steels as well as for the dissimilar metals’ welding was evaluated.
